about me

Hi, I’m Kavi!

I’m an Indian American interdisciplinary artist and print designer based in New York City. 

I approach print design with a spirit of playful craftsmanship, combining traditional techniques with vibrant color palettes and organic linework to create whimsical and memorable designs for both fashion and interiors. 

In my textile art and illustration work, I explore how people use jewelry and accessories as love tokens, protective talismans, portable altars, and lucky charms to assert a sense of self-determination during moments of transition in their lives.

My creative practice and visual inspiration are rooted in traditional Asian folklore, mythology, the natural world in urban landscapes, and editorial fashion, combining careful research into historical motifs, symbols, and textile art traditions with a contemporary sensibility towards color and texture. 

I share my work with the community through my independent creative project Stardusted Studio in addition to hosting beginner-friendly textile art workshops throughout NYC.  

I am a Fulbright scholar and graduate of the Textile and Surface Design program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in addition to holding degrees from Northwestern University, Falmouth University, and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a diploma in contemporary hand embroidery from the Hand & Lock School for Embroidery & Creative Arts.
